Getting Married

Jakob has been asking about marriage a lot lately, I'm thinking because the little girls at school talk about it? When asked whom he will marry he has said "Mommy...Daddy...baby Sarah" and "Nana". He has asked a few times about how old you have to be to get married, my response "When you're an adult", Jakob "Yeah like when I'm five, right?"
But, he has asked me twice now "How does getting married end?" I told him, "When you get married it is supposed to be forever, it doesn't end, you marry the person you love and stay with them forever." His response, "Hmm, I don't think I want to get married." I about died, had to bite my tongue to not laugh - he is his Daddy's boy!
Too bad little ladies, he is living his Daddy's dream and not settling down! For my sake, I hope he does settle down and have beautiful kids - who knows!!

One of the best parts of being a parent of a 3 1/2 year old...

The super sweet, sincere and udderly hyterical things that he says...

To Mommy:
"You are my best Mommy"
"Mommy you are a good girl"
"Mommy you are so pretty"
"Mommy I llike your sweater"
"Mommy I want to snuggle you and Sarah."
"Mommy you have boobs and I don't...you feed baby Sarah"
"Mommy, you need to hold baby Sarah like this (crossing his arms in a cradle hold), that will make her stop crying...you just didn't know that Mommy."
"Mommy where did my toot go, I can't see it?"

To Sarah:
"Hi pretty girl"
"Hi sweet girl"
"Hold my finger Sarah"
"You are a sweet girl"
"SSSH Sarah, it's ok"
"It's ok Sarah, it's not bad"
"Sarah toots really loud and makes really big, stinky poops...right?" (while watching me change her diaper and trying to see her poop)

To Mark:
"Daddy you are a good guy"
"I like you Daddy"
"I love you Daddy"
"I like your jacket Daddy"
"I need to give Daddy a kiss to wake him up"
"When I'm bigger like you Daddy, I will drink coffee and beer too."
"Daddy you like beer right?"

Happy Easter!

We had a wonderful day, full of egg hunts, chocolate, great friends and mimosas! What more can you ask for!

Sarah is wearing a special bonnet from her Gramma Kathy, it will turn into her wedding hankerchief - but it's a bit small on her head!

Happy St. Patty's Day

Jakob had a St. Patrick's Day party at school, complete with a visit from some pesky leprechauns. You can see some remnants of a bloody nose that he got after falling on the mat again (same mat he got the rug burn on his nose at Xmas time). I swear Jakob is the only kid who gets hurt on this mat and always on the nose!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

2 months

As everyone knows time flies, but time really flies when you have a newborn that changes everyday! Sarah is 2 months old now. She weighs 11 lbs 4 oz and is 23.5 inches long. She has gained almost 4 pounds since birth and grown 3 inches. She is doing more and more everyday, mostly a lot of cooing and smiling. She has outgrown some newborn outfits and is getting into the 3 month clothes - but they are generally big on her. I put her in the onesie that I bought the day I found out I was having a girl, it's a 3-6 month size - and it kind of turned into a Madonnaish (circa 1985) top, as it kept sliding down off of a shoulder. (It's the one she is wearing in our family pic below - it says "Daddy's little dear".
We attempted to take a family photo yesterday and it was pretty hysterical with Mark's constant eye closing (can't keep his eyes open if he knows when the picture will be taken, but he was the one taking the picture - so not a lot of luck there), Jakob not looking at the camera and climbing all over me and Sarah, and Sarah staring and/or spitting up, and myself making a wierd smile or looking bald on one side because of my hair style!
Anyhow here is one of the better ones that we took - a bit blurry but we all look normal!

Sarah in her 3-6 month sleeper/outfit that we put her in to take her on walks outside! She looks so enthused to be in it - don't you think!

Random Jakob Question

While I was using our bathroom, Jakob came running in with something "Very important to tell you...When Sarah was in your tummy she wasn't wearing clothes...Right?"

(Anyone who has been around Jakob in the last month has enjoyed hearing every sentence end with "Right?" And the way he says it sounds a bit like Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High".)

"You're right, babies swim around in the tummy without clothes on...when they come out we put clothes on them."
"Why"
"To keep them warm"
"Oh, yeah...but when I was in your tummy I wore clothes...right?"
"No, you were naked too"
"No, I was nudeydoo (our word for naked) and now I wear clothes because I'm a big boy."

Dinosaurs

The OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) has a new exhibit of dinosaurs from Asia. Some of the display is in a fossil form and some of it is animated (life size) versions of dinosaurs. Jakob's Gramma Kathy is visiting, so we all went to see the exhibit together. Jakob liked it, but was a bit scared of the moving dinosaurs, especially the one that looked like a T-rex (a smaller version and apparently a cousin of the T-rex - can't remember the name now), it roared really loud and moved it's head and claws. I tried to hold Jakob up close to see it and he clung onto me for dear life, of course as soon as I lifted him up, the dinosaur moved it's head and roared! Poor kid will probably have nightmares - don't all good parents give their kids nightmares?

Sarah smiles

Sarah is really dishing out the smiles now, but it's still tricky to capture them on camera - here are the best pics we've got so far.
She really likes Elmo, she smiles and coos at him, while doing bicycle kicks - it's very cute!

P.S. Mommy and Daddy are smiling too as Sarah has had 4 nights in a row with a 5 hour stretch of sleep (10:30pm - 3:30am) - hurray! Also, we are all getting over bad colds and the weather has been pretty nice - so lots of things to smile about!
